Tribute in Light 2015 | NYC
I had an incredible little adventure in the city last night. For the past five years (since I moved to New York) I have gone out on the evening of September 11th to photograph the city skyline with the Tribute In Light 9/11 memorial lights. The 88 high-powered lights reach far into the sky and are visible from tens of miles away. The addition to the skyline for a brief evening is spectacular and my short evening journey always serves as a way to remember and pay tribute to lives lost and those who worked so tirelessly on and after September 11th, 2001.
Last night, I had the unique experience of being able to get onto the roof of the parking garage with all of the lights and actually photographing from inside each of the columns of 44 lamps. The experience was breathtaking. I didn’t know that I’d be able to do this, otherwise I would have brought more video gear. Still, I improvised some shots and put them together with some photos from the evening in this short compilation.
