Inspiration struck late yesterday evening and I threw down an acoustic melody that was running through my head. I took a listen this morning and found that I was still digging the idea (occasionally, in moments of great inspiration, it is possible to have a sub-par idea eclipsed by the in-the-moment inspiration itself- this was not the case). I sat down and modified the idea a bit and worked out the rest of the song.
I decided to forgo any kind of demo recording of it and start recording the final version. I recorded several acoustic guitar parts, all with an X-Y arrangement of my AKG C1000s and then tracked some bass guitar and light drums. I’m very happy with how it built from my aural vision. I’ll post a segment from it sometime tomorrow.
Until then, a quick screenshot from the session…
